From jamming in their music room at Western Springs College to conquering the NZ music scene, everyone loves Neisian Mystik! Polynesian culture merged with RnB, Hip Hop and Reggae combined to make feel-good club hits with conscious political messages. Their sound is uniquely their own, combining rap, soulful harmonies, scratching and guitaring. Their debut album Polysaturated debuted at #1 with 4 top 10 hits. Pioneers of a South Pacific reggae/roots, firmly based island grooves, who layer funk, soul, afro-beat and the eclectic elements over their dub and reggae foundations, The Black Seeds infuse raw energy and good vibes wherever they go. Rootsy, souly, singer-songwriter, drum & bass vocalist Thomas Oliver is debuting at HG to entertain us with his slick, musically fantastic performance. Recognised internationally as one of the world’s leading players of the Weissenborn, the steel and slide lap guitar. He’s shared the stage with Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton, Xavier Rudd, and Fat Freddy’s! His new album ‘The Brightest Light‘ due next March, just in time for Homegrown 2020. Indie pop-rock band from Christchurch Mako Road were originally found playing covers at Uni events and parties. Then they developed their own sound, influenced by a range of genres which led them to release three singles, and the EP ‘The Green Superintendent‘ in early 2018. Their latest EP ‘Local Safari‘ hosts the awesome single ‘Lady‘. July saw Mako Road tour nationwide selling out shows with Mitch James. Watch here: ‘Lady’
23-year-old singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalist and producer, Fijian born Rotorua raised Lepani will be kicking off the City Stage this year with his debut performance at Homegrown. Choosing music over rugby as soon as he left school, Lepani got a job to buy music equipment that led him to record and produce all of his music at home in Howick.
