He's back! Ready to party at the City Stage, Dave Dobbyn with all his iconic hits, he is the soundtrack to our Kiwi lives! Th' Dudes, Dobbyn's 1st band gave us great hits such as Bliss, Right First Time and Be Mine Tonight. Following on DD Smash was full of successes and #1 hits. As a solo artist Slice of Heaven spent 8 weeks at No 1 in NZ, and Welcome Home was 2005's Single of the Year. 2019 sees Dobbyn bringing another slice of heaven to our City Stage. Bringing an infectiously fun live show with standout skilful playing and showmanship honed by relentless touring. These guys need no introduction, Opshop has become one of NZ's best-loved bands. Crafting a constant stream of massive hits and three albums. Responsible for the string of Supergroove hits that became kiwi anthems, hip-hop/soul/reggae/rap/singer-songwriter Che-Fu continued to impress when he went solo and had great success with the hit single ft DLT 'Chains.' King of the Dubs, this solar powered musical activist who experiments in making stuff is up early to kick the City Stage into overdrive. Arguably one of the country's most well-known diverse artists/producers. Front man of Salmonella Dub, then onto his solo career in 2007. 'Always On My Mind' broke 2 all-time NZ records. Alae, this sophisticated band of indie pop is playing sold out shows across the nation. Their music premieres have debuted through billboard.com and Rolling Stone plus high profile global inclusions across Apple Music and Spotify playlists. Alae are undoubtedly on the rise. October 26th saw the release of their debut album Henry Street which features their singles Stone Cold, Too Strung Up which clocked over 2.3 million streams on Spotify. DJ Takas (Mike Takarangi) has been a fan of good music since day dot. Making history with a lot of late nights as resident DJ around the Capitol and Auckland, mixing up old classics from yesteryear and new school nuggets a plenty. DJ Takas is a great way to kick things off this year on the City Stage. Be lucky enough to be on this guys dance floor.
