House of Shem are one of New Zealand's iconic reggae bands. Errol Brown (Bob Marley, Burning Spear) and James Caruso (Damian Marley, Stephen Marley, Nas) worked on two of their albums, mixing at Tuff Gong Studios Jamaica. Crisp! Embodying elements of roots reggae, pacific reggae and traditional Maori music. We had so many requests to have them on the bill and we’re so happy they are here. Straight outta Otara this reggae band has been built on a strong choral tradition. 3HD have toured and played alongside such acts as Ziggy Marley, UB40, & Shaggy. Add 12-year old General Fiyah to the mix with his Michael Jackson/Musical Youth flavour what better way to kick things off at the 2019 Dub n Roots Stage. Smashing shows ever since their trademark with celebrations of hip-hop, reggae/dub, dancehall, original skool soul & funk all the way through to glitch, jungle and trap fusion of everything yo love to sing. These guys are MVP’s…they have played at every single Homegrown festival as they just keep the party and the beats going throughout the night with KP entertaining us as MC host on the stage too.
DJ Sir Vere is a hip hop pioneer in demand. Always at the forefront of the movement, learning secrets from the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Jim Master Jay and DJ Premier. DJ Sir Vere's 'Major Flavour' albums have exploded off the shelves in excessive units, it is all or nothing with this guy!
