Vodafone Homegrown supports all things green and we'd appreciate it if you could make your presence at the festival as environmentally friendly as possible.
Our earth is precious & with everyone doing something small we can make a big difference.
Recycling - let's all make an effort!
At the 2008 festival we were able to recycle 72% of all our waste away from Landfill which was a great effort, but we are sure we can better that. Please don't just drop rubbish on the ground, try & use the recycling stations.
There will be lots more clearly labeled recycling bins throughout all of the waterfront venues so please check the signs and use the right one. We are going to simplify the system with just 3 bins (1 = plastic, cans, glass 2 = food waste 3 = other).
Kai to Compost
Our food stall holders will all be using biodegradable packaging so when you are finished with your food please put it in the clearly marked brown Kai to Compost bin. This is REALLY IMPORTANT so we don't contaminate the products we are able to recycle.
Good Water www.goodwater.org.nz
The good guys at Good Water will be out in force helping people with their recycling & promoting their fabulous eco friendly bottles & vision to be the first recycled water bottle in NZ.
Public Transport
Wherever possible lets use public transport. Wellington has got a great system and it's a good way to help the planet, along with keeping some ping in your pocket. Parking space is at a premium in Wellington so make sure your car is full or jump on a bus or train.
Check out this website www.carshare.co.nz if you have a spare seat in your car or you wanna grab a ride with some other people on a mission. After all, meeting new people is what festivals are all about!
Check out the transport page for bus & train timetables.
Vodafone Mobile Recycling
If you are done with your old Vodafone mobile, don't just leave it sitting in your drawer or chuck it in the rubbish, give it back to Vodafone so they can recycle it!
It's free, it's way better for the environment & it helps give people in developing countries access to mobile communications.
